Equity and Inclusivity Resources

"We value the unique and diverse perspectives, experiences, and cultural identities of our staff, students and community."
"We must dismantle institutional racism in a collaborative and intentional manner, and commit to address intentional and unintentional bias"
- Preamble, FWEA/FWPS Collectively Bargained Agreements

We strive for safe, welcoming and affirming schools for all of our students, educators and families. We believe all students deserve a high quality public education, inclusive of family background and identity.

FWEA members serve in the most diverse school district in Washington state. Equity is a paramount priority for us.

As NEA members, NEA can come facilitate high quality Professional Development too.

In alignment with our vision for equitable opportunities, this page will feature member-recommended equity resources. Have a resource you recommend? Please email our office manager at tiafwea@aol.com

NEA offers free professional development on several topics for members. Click here to learn more.

FWPS has an Equity Policy. There are many FWPS school board policies addressing equity and anti-discrimination, including this policy around gender identity and expression.

If you are being discriminated against, members can file a HIB complaint with the district. The US Equal Opportunity Employment Commission is another powerful resource to report directly to the federal government, as an outside agency to support.
