UPCOMING MEMBER EVENTS and PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

October 14th - FWEA Wellness Group Gathering.  Join us at WEA Headquarters from 4 to 5:30 pm as we discuss yoga, mindfulness/meditation, and setting wellness goals.  

October 16th - TGIF!!  Join us from 3 to 6 pm at RoundTable Pizza in Federal Way for free pizza and fun conversations!  Bring your colleagues, invite your family and let's get together and have a fun time!  More information in the Friday Night email!  

Did you know…Let’s Go Washington, a political group sponsored by multimillionaire Brian Heywood, is running three initiatives in 2026 that would directly impact our students, school communities and working families. The WEA Board opposes all three measures. WEA also belongs to a coalition called No Hate in Washington STate that is fighting I-001 and I-638, and the coalition for No on I-645 (fighting the Millionaire’s Tax repeal).
  • NO on I-645 (Repealing the Millionaire’s Tax) which gives a tax cut to millionaires while cutting billions in funding for education, healthcare and childcare.
  • NO on I-001 (Dividing Parents & Educators on Parental Rights) which removes common-sense protections for at-risk students while worsening the student mental-health crisis.
  • NO on I-638 (Restricting School Sports) which creates the most extreme sports ban in the country and adds additional barriers to participation for female students only.

On Oct. 17, we're going to knock on doors and talk with our neighbors about the pro-labor, pro-education candidates we're supporting and why we're voting NO to harmful initiatives on the ballot this fall.
