Welcome back FWEA colleagues!
We hope you have had a restful summer, and although many of us have been back at work since August 15th, or August 3rd for our amazing Education Support Professionals, welcome back to our great Federal Way schools!
I know you've spent a lot of money on supplies, so don't forget to submit the Materials Reimbursement Form to Finance Department at ESC. Your FWEA Association Reps can help.
Also, with 5 Cel D Evaluations around the corner, we have collaborated with our Puget Sound Uniserv Council to host a training on October 6. The sign up form is on our FWEA Events list, on the home page. Dinner and materials are included, and it's only $5 for FWEA members. Through the hundreds of members who completed our PD survey (check your home email-it closes on Monday, and email Tia if you haven't received one) we've heard that Evaluation is a major area of interest, and it's an honor to be immediately responsive.
I've really appreciated the updates and questions I've received about consensus site-based decisions and other important aspects of our jobs. It's a privilege to hear from you and learn about your passion for your students.
I'm also excited our new Federal Way Education Association Community Facebook page already has over 155 "likes", which is a great way for us to communicate the inspiring things happening in our schools every day. This was certainly helped by our members across the district raising awareness of the McCleary case by wearing Red for Public Ed. Our families, students and educators work their hardest every day. We need the state to work their hardest to finally fully fund public education this year.
Through the summer I've worked collaboratively with our district to make Federal Way Public Schools the best place to teach and learn. In that process, I've been looking in our Collective Bargaining Agreement every day, and Vice President Jeremy Bort, our Executive Board and I look forward to hearing from you what your most important considerations as we go into this next bargaining year. Quick Tip: search our CBA by typing in a key word (a function that also works really well on your cell phone!).
Take care, much more to come, and have a restful first weekend,
