You continue to inspire us all with your dedication and support of all students! The superhero action of members at Kilo, Camelot and Lake Dolloff this week were one more example of that. Our thoughts are with our recovering student and the families involved.
Your FWEA Executive Board had our first full meeting this week! It was a packed agenda, and we are looking forward to seeing all of our AR reps on Monday, many of whom are new, especially since we've begun new communication together. As always, all members are welcome to come to the AR meetings, and we can't wait to see you!
By now you've probably heard that we've collaborated with our district to improve 5 Cel D, in conjunction with the PESB recommendations. We've posted resources and FAQ here. To quickly summarize, members have their proficient or distinguished comprehensive scores sent to the state once in the 4 year cycle just like before. But now, the improvement is that we can choose one criterion we want to develop, and our overall score does not change with the state-unless the criterion score goes up for that one criterion. It's important to know that we are still evaluated and observed. It's also important to know that if your principal is worried about your practice, and is unsure if you can achieve proficient, they can still do a 60 minute observation to determine if you should be on comprehensive. This must occur before December 15. Please see the FAQ and resources to learn more, and remember we have an Oct 6th Training scheduled as well (link on home page).
Timesheet: If you are preparing lesson plans for embedded IRLA PD, or other similar work that takes you out of the classroom, remember to timesheet for an hour as per our CBA 14.1 H "Teachers who participate in non-stipended committee work will timesheet one hour of prep time for each day missed in the classroom."
We have great Upcoming Events! Cel 5 D training, Student Loan Forgiveness, Educators of Color Network, a Voter Registration Drive and more. We listened to the hundreds of members who took our PD Perception Survey to inform this planning, and stay tuned for our Cultural Competency trainings we'll list soon too.
Have a restful weekend, and thanks for liking our new community Facebook page!
