One of the biggest deadlines of the year is approaching; Horizontal Salary Schedule submission day, October 25th. Consider following these steps and submitting the forms on this link to move up the salary scale http://www.federalwayea.org/moving-up-the-salary-schedule.html .
Can you imagine how many members potentially have hundreds of dollars a month available? We appreciate you spreading the word.
We have had several meet-ups, and we are looking forward to the Loan Forgiveness Seminar this week.
We look forward to seeing everyone at our Annual TGIF event, on October 21 at Roundtable Pizza. It's free, it's fun, and we always have great conversation. This year, of course, we expect to hear about issues that are important to members as we head into the bargain.
The FWEA Executive Board, in partnership with our Association Representatives (ARs), appreciate hearing your concerns. We've been able to work to remedy issues across the district, and it is only possible by your good work contacting ARs, consulting our Collectively Bargained Agreement (CBA) and seeking support from the Executive Board.
We need members to know how to get help, and be empowered to enforce our CBA to, for example, ensure they get their planning time.
As a reminder, if an issue covered by our CBA isn't able to be solved at the building level, with a meeting with your Association Rep and principal, you may need to move to the next level, which is contacting our Advocacy Team.
They may help you solve the issue with further conversation at the building level, or perhaps will walk side-by-side with members to file a grievance. Sometimes this word carries a bad feeling, however grievances are actually a very collaborative process to gain a deep and shared understanding of that particular section of the CBA. A grievance is akin to placing a formal with timelines protocol on an issue.
The first formal step of a grievance after we've tried to resolve in the building level? A conversation between the Association and District. At the bottom of this page on our website find information about our Advocacy Process.
Have a great week,
